Plantythm

I can see the rhythm in plants
The digital splay of vibrations
Like counting numbers in leaves
Completely still geometrically
They’re moving shaking in place
Reverberant foliage unmuted
A tremulous explosion
Frozen in space with motion
How it’s growing from the earth
Perfectly patterned
Exquisitely mattered in
Fluttering leaves of quavering
Dances in quantum milliseconds
Without moving a single frond
Every needle every petal
Each and every blade
Full of motion in an immobile
Spellbound line

Plant Another Rose

I just want the fun parts
If you come back
Can you leave
The bad parts behind
You know that
Everybody loves you
When you’re dead
Why do we have to leave
For people to notice
How special it was?
The bed’s not even cold yet
And there’s already
Somebody else in it
I guess it doesn’t matter
Who it is just as long
As there’s somebody in it
I’ll take my chances
Refuse to settle
Plant another rose
Wait for the right one
