Selfish

The intransigent woman was
Selfish in her plays and so the
Boy made sure to get out
Of her way he didn’t have
Whatever it was that she needed
The most beautiful girl
In the world to herself
At the time the rain was falling
Most would find her behavior
Exceptionally appalling but to
Sit and drink tea with the enemy
Seemed quite natural for to find
A clever moment to reside
In some personal protected space
Made room for manners and
Insatiable grace that could not
Be found by blowing his top
The leaves covered the trees
In what seemed like the reddest
Fire burning louder and brighter
Than any pain or discomfort
Could protest and at the beauty
To remark and gaze upon reminds
One of how short life has become
Water dripped down from the roof
Onto the ledge and then again
Upon his forehead and the ground
Shook beneath his feet in what was
The greatest understanding for
What to behold in this life is
More beautiful more gorgeous than
Any willfulness to battle with
A girl who is drowning
In her world and of her needs
Whose lips were burning to kiss
And make out with herself
There must be more to life
Than just to be concerned
With your own wealth
Maybe I gave too much
