You want to stand your ground
Even when it’s at your own detriment
Is this a blessing or a curse?
To be so strong that you cannot see
The bus when it’s going to hit you
To be flexible is to be open
To see the possibility but also know
When what you’re fighting for
Is no longer in the game
On its way the ship has sailed
The bomb has dropped
The hurricane prevailed
If you are still standing there
What will be left to spar for
If you are no longer here to
Fight for this existence when
Yours has expired there will be
More gas on the fire to leave
A black hole burned by conflagration
Nothing left to hold onto or touch
But the remmenants of black dust
We fight together for the sake
Of protecting the greater good
With a knowledge that will surpass
The egos intent to take hold
Of our better selves and in the moment
Retreat and defeat malicious intent
To banish our best judgments for the
Miracle of light that exposes the
Footpath leading to our endeared
And most glorious destinations
What else are we fighting for?
