Farmboy

Gregariously I wait for you
To sign my record as you did
For so many others
In the background hanging
Ever so patiently
In the company I keep
Like an ink stain on my heart
With innumerable chills and still
I stand singularly
Haunting the background to see
If time will find you for me
Transforming my greed
For your touch into gratitude
I am blushing to view you
In action and if I never
Get a signature well then
It’s not the end of the world
But I could feel closer to
The source that is speaking
To you and through you
Is it now or later who knows
I would wait here for days
Counting my eggs
Incubating for them to hatch
Like growing up on a farm
Lazy days roll by
Time is irrelevant
One by one counting
Just for you a farmboy
Love starved not only
For touch but also music
The tune of wheat rustling
Against itself and the
Occasional moo of a cow
Water from the creek
So I lay back rest in the laurels
To uncover what may come
