Happen

Divers if dreams
Could be more than one thing
Child riding by on a dog
Three wise men barefoot
Wanting to show up to
Offer comfort or a hug
Sing along like a hymn
In the heart I play a record
And I sit beside you
The lyrics and sheet music
Are black on black
I need a flashlight
To see the images
To read the words that
You don’t know
I can’t even catch the melody
Without the vinyl playing
And so I stand up
To place the needle again
And we are listening
The music is magic
To our ears and the
Words come alive

Joined by a friend who
Wants her ear pierced
We learn she should wait
To see the placement of the
Bar strategically so we
Do not stretch the space
Between I have learned
In this moment
Sometimes it is better to
Wait to make sure
A thing fits
Arriving at the studio
The piercers are ready
One is drawing a mustache
On the other with a marker
The same they use to
Point out the spot to pierce

I am reminded here too
That laughter is the best medicine
And life is to be lived
Perhaps not over analyzed
Because if we have not lived it
We too have nothing to plan
Or look back on

So we just make it happen

Musicheart

Trying to break my flowers
What’s your astrology?
Can I get the digital code
To your heart ‘cause
I don’t care about your phone

What would it take to
Open you up
Do you have a cause
That I could orient?

Metal vibes and hard hearts
Won’t get you too far
But I’ve got a car
If you want a ride
Outside of this
Whatever this is

It could be heavy
I can also picture it soft
At least ninety ways to get there

May be sixty exits
If you need an escape
I have this thing for music
And also you

So many words but not
Enough verbs on the planet
In any language to say it all
So I stand and stare
Looking for twitches
Bright lights shine down

Black and blue clouds
Overhead alive pupil’s glimmer
Piercingly blue and
Black from shadows
Of numinous moonlight

Wake up tomorrow with you

A Capella

Lighthouse in dark times that don’t
Always feel bleak she argued her point
Burning plane down in flames
I could feel the dead weight
At least one hundred feet behind me
Dedication to dependence
I begged for self sufficiency
Growing up I wanted to connect
Deeply and wholly with someone
This is terrifying to anyone who
Has never felt that kind of love
Marching on then Hollywood becomes
Leaves dancing around us
Like an invisible tornado
In the morning and at night
Bright lights and disco tiles
For awhile until even that wears out
Spray a little oil onto things to
Keep them up and running
Maintaining the worthiness of
A heart that longs to be trusted and opened
A woman appears out of nowhere
Approaching with something
To be read because she is illiterate
Not even one language
Can be calculated and all the while
Here I was juggling five trying to
Accompany my ancestors in the
Afterlife with so many wind tunnels
To get there but no color or wall
Preventing the sun from
Shining through the undetectable lines
That are strategized when trying to
Make contact with someone
So you push harder and you
Grow stronger and you love like
You want and you determine the hue
Of the electrical field that is
Mesmerized around you in a capella
Solemnly or solo not without purpose
But with enough grit to hold onto
Yourself until the next embrace
Arouses the ability to serenade someone again

Riddle

Morning greets us as
The moon retreats us
Never a dull moment
Looking down on earth
Waxing and waning
Painting the night sky
With light like a
Luminescent brush on
The backsides of mountains
The underbrush in the
Forest and the tips
Of our noses
Each melody that
Repeats in my head
At dawn is a different
Song narrating a unique story
That is replaying recorded
Lyrics of therapeutic
Thoughts of which to
Guide the subconscious
Eaves and waves
Tapering throughout the
Day a little reckoning
Of what has been happening
While sleeping deeply
And a message to soothe
What is to come in a lullabyic
Process and response to
A world that is resounding
To our existence with still
Miniscule bits or clues
For destiny to go on
If the asteroids ever hit
Perhaps the trees
Will witness it
It’s still unclear if
We will ever solve
The ultimate riddle

Fever for You

You send chills
Up my body and
Into my bed
A magical place
Where I suddenly
Remember everything
I forgot to do
You’ve got such a
Nice glow about you
Lanterns hanging above us
Swinging about
Rockabye love
In your arms
Albeit likely
Virtual for the time being
But you’ll be here
Coming around the later
Clock hour
I’d wait all night for you
Waitin’ for you is a tease
And a blessin’
You keep me guessin’
Suppose that makes me
Hotter for you
Like I’ve got a fever for you
Can’t hardly tell the difference
Between honey on bread
Or your lips on me
There’s a certain music
That plays in my head
When you’re around
Different than the tune
I hear when you’re not around
That song pines a bit
I’ve got the incense lit
Watching it draw shapes
Around the room
Reminds me of the shape of you
The way it lingers in the air
It hangs like the memory
Of your essence when you leave
Even though I know you’ll be back
I always play like it will be
The last time I see you
It makes my passion ride deeper
Faster in the way that
Jumping hurdles gives you
A kind of high
Like you can do anything
Every time we jump another
I feel my blood rise
I even want to bust out cryin’
Just a little at least anyway
To know that we have this
Somebody take my temperature
The doctor says I’m fine
Maybe their’s just no thermometer
For a sickness of this kind
